Sunset is 1.9 miles by 0.6, and the detail comes to every street of it.

Sunset is a small residential city at the north end of Davis County, 1.9 miles by 0.6, with Hill Air Force Base directly east, I-15 and SR-126 alongside it and Main Street, which the city calls SR-26, running through it. City Hall and the park office sit at 200 West 1300 North, Central Park is on the 1800 North corridor, and UDOT is building a new I-15 interchange at 1800 North through November 2027, with the full set of ramps opening in 2027. A Fresh Tracks professional details your car, truck or SUV at your Sunset home or your work, right where it's parked, and the monthly plan keeps coming every 2 or 4 weeks.

Around 1916 a group of local women, admiring the sunset over the Great Salt Lake, named their neighborhood Sunset, and the town stayed at about 600 residents until the subdivisions of the 1960s and 70s.

Named for the sunset over the lake, dusted by the lake every spring.

UDOT's brine, salt and cinders on I-15, SR-126 and Main Street, plowed snow pushed into the driveway cuts along them, lake dust from March to May, and construction on 1800 North through 2027.

  • Winter

Salt brine before a storm and salt, grit and volcanic cinders during it on I-15, SR-126 and Main Street, because UDOT treats its state routes and nothing else, and along those routes the plows push the snow aside rather than hauling it, into the driveway cuts and over the sidewalks, so a car on Main Street starts every snowy morning by pushing through what the plow left at the end of the driveway.

  • Spring

Lake dust on a windy day from March to May, because the lake whose sunsets named the town has exposed hundreds of square miles of dry lakebed, and for anyone driving out to Antelope Island, the causeway's biting gnats on the grille from April to June.

  • Summer

Construction dust and grit along 1800 North and at the new I-15 interchange, where seven lanes are going in from I-15 to 250 West with a new bridge over the rail crossing, through November 2027, and brine flies on the grille in midsummer for anyone who drives the causeway.

  • Fall

The first brine lines on I-15, because UDOT sprays brine when a storm is about 72 hours out, and the 1800 North work carrying on toward its November 2027 finish.
